BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. Aug  2 2012

A 56-year-old former drama teacher was arrested after Brevard County deputies said he had a sexual relationship with a student while still employed.

The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office arrested Dennis Turner after the victim said she had a three-year sexual relationship with Turner beginning when she was 15.

Deputies said Turner had a sexual relationship with a student while he was employed as a drama teacher at Edgewood Junior-Senior High School.

The victim said that incidents occasionally occurred during school hours and on school property, deputies said.

Investigators believe the conduct occurred until the victim graduated from the school.

The investigation began at the end of the school year after the school received information from concerned parents.

Turner resigned from his position at Edgewood before the end of the school year.

Turner was charged with 126 counts of sexual battery of a person under 18 years of age while in custodial authority.

He is currently being held at the Brevard County Jail with a bond of $4,400,000.
