A Louisville man is accused of stealing more than $20,000 worth of computers and jewelry from the Wal-Mart at 3706 Diann Marie Road.

Joseph Clinton Coleman, 40, of the 700 block of E. Kentucky Street, has been charged with six counts of theft by unlawful taking.

He was arrested about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 3700 block of Crittenden Drive, according to a Louisville Metro Police citation.

The citation said Coleman would go to Wal-Mart and obtain an empty child seat box and conceal several laptop computers.

Then he would go through a cashier’s lane and pay the amount that was shown for the car seats and exit the store, it said.Approximately 16 laptop computers have been stolen from the store, along with one desktop computer.

The computer thefts occurred between late July and Monday.

The citation says the thefts were captured on video by security and detectives.

The citation says the video surveillance also captured Coleman stealing jewelry from Wal-Mart from May to July.More than $5,000 in jewelry allegedly was stolen.Coleman’s bail has been set at $5,000.
