Man harrasses mall security via 2 way radio www.privateofficer.com

Ventura County CA June 30 2009
Thousand Oaks police arrested a Northridge man earlier this month on suspicion of using radio equipment to interfere with radio operations at The Oaks mall.
Police said an unknown man broadcast profanity to security officers at the mall. He also told the officers they would have to give their radio frequencies to him, and he threatened to jam the mall’s radio frequencies if they did not comply, police said.
Police said security officers reprogrammed their radios to block the unknown intruder. But he hacked into the mall’s radio frequencies, police said, and continued to harass officers and jam their frequencies.
The Ventura County Sheriff’s Department, with investigators from the Federal Communications Commission, found the suspect as he was making more demands to officers at the mall, police said.
Deputies arrested Kevin William Bondy, 25, on June 10 on suspicion of willfully and repeatedly violating FCC regulations.
FCC investigators said they seized radio equipment valued at around $1 million from Bondy’s residence and a locked storage facility he rented.
Investigators were still trying to learn this week who owns the equipment.
