http://www.privateofficer.com/ Several persons held up a local armored truck and it appears that they got away with possibly six figures in the heist.
It happened on JFK Boulevard and Aldine Mail Route in northeast Houston. Harris County investigators call the robber bold for confronting guards with guns.
The owner would not talk to area televison reporters on camera but he did show them surveillance video of the robbery and while authorities are not saying exactly how much was stolen, the owner says he was expecting $100,000.
It’s a risky business”, said Mark Clark, Loomis Senior Vice President of Strategic Growth and Communications.
According to surveillance video viewed , the armed robber was waiting for the armored truck. When it arrived, one female guard checked the surroundings. The other got out with two bags of cash and was met with a gun. The crook then took hers.
“While the suspect disarmed the female guard, the guard was not hurt,” said Sgt. Noel Araguz with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office. “Nobody in this establishment was injured in this ordeal.”
The robber took off and within minutes police and detectives were at the scene.

According to Loomis, last year there were approximately 75 armored car robberies nationwide.
In Houston the average, says an FBI spokeswoman, is one to two a year. The last big heist in Houston was in 2004 when almost $4 million was stolen from Triple D Security. That turned out to be an inside job.
Strict policies and procedures are in place for guards to follow.
There were three at Wednesday’s robbery. One must always stay in the truck. Loomis’ Mark Clark would not discuss the specifics of what happened, although he says all guards are armed and their priority is to avoid an incident.
“We don’t want gunfire on the streets. We don’t want to put people at risk so it is a last resort, but if it comes to the last resort, they are well trained,” said Clark.
Neither of the two guards who remained armed fired their guns.
Investigators say all the guards are cooperating and they believe the robbery is legitimate. The robber got away in a green Pontiac sedan, possibly a Grand Am or Grand Prix.

WEST PALM BEACH, FL July 31 2008

http://www.privateofficer.com/ An armored car security agent was shot in the leg and the driver was also wounded by a gunshot during an attempted robbery outside of a Wachovia bank, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responding to the robbery say armed subjects confronted a Loomis armored car driver, shortly after 10 a.m., after the vehicle pulled up at the Wachovia Bank at 4900 Okeechobee Boulevard in Suburban West Palm Beach.

The Loomis employee was re-stocking an ATM outside the bank when a group of men armed with an assault rifle and several handguns jumped out of a blue van.
The group of men and the armed guards exchanged gunfire. A witness inside the bank claims to have heard at least 12 shots.

During the attempted robbery, the armored car passenger was shot in the leg. The driver, who was also wounded by a gunshot, drove the armored car to Good Samaritan Medical Center in West Palm Beach. The driver’s injuries were minor. The passenger is expected to survive.Police captured the one suspect left behind on a nearby street. The armed gunman fled and left a black ski mask and blue clothing near a canal bank.Deputies say the men were wearing blue and left in a blue van.

The clothing and the vehicle have been found.The Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office has set up a perimeter from Military Trail to Haverhill Road, and from Belvedere Road to Okeechobee Boulevard.

The sheriff’s department has now captured three of the five men wanted as of Thursday morning.
Sheriff investigators are calling the driver of the armored car a hero and said that he took heroic steps to save both his life and his partners.
