Gwinnett County deputy sheriff killed in dispute www.privateofficer.com

DACULA, Ga. April 30 2009
wbstv.com — An off-duty Gwinnett County sheriff’s deputy was shot and killed early Thursday morning.
Corporal D. P. Schiralli, the spokesman for the Gwinnett County police department, sent an e-mail to WSB-TV Channel 2 saying the deputy was shot at 2770 Austin Ridge Drive in Dacula.
Gwinnett Sheriff Butch Conway told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution the man, who he described as an experienced deputy, was shot during a domestic dispute.
Officers found the victim at the house and he was taken to Gwinnett County Medical Center where he died.
Officials at the sheriff’s department identified the victim as Don Bassett, a 17 year veteran of the department.
Police are questioning a woman who was inside the house when they arrived. They identified her as Morgan Schrader.
