ALBANY, GA July 3 2012 – A Dougherty County School systems employee indicted on theft and forgery charges. She’s accused of stealing more than $1,500 dollars from the school system.
Wednesday the grand jury indicted 49-year-old Nanette Marie Hagood on five counts of computer and financial theft and forgery.
The seven year employee of the Dougherty County was an IT applications support specialist.
Prosecutors say she used a school system computer to open a credit card in her name, and steal money last fall.
“The allegations were brought to light after an internal investigation by the school board. And accountants and auditors there brought the matter to the District Attorney’s office,” said Greg Edwards, Dougherty D.A.
School officials say Hagood was suspended with pay May 30th. Now, that she’s indicted, she’ll be suspended without pay. She has not been arrested or surrendered to Sheriff’s Officials yet.
