HARDEMEN COUNTY, Tenn.May 8 2012 – Police have confirmed that the bodies of a Tennessee mother and her oldest daughter have been found in Mississippi. Her two other daughters were believed to be with kidnapper.
Police made the grim discovery at a home near Guntown, Miss. where it’s believed their main suspect, Adam Mayes, had been staying.
Described as a family friend, the FBI believes Mayes kidnapped the mother, along with 8-year-old Kyliyah, 12-year-old Alexandria, and 14-year old Adrienne.
The family was last seen ten days ago at their home in Tennessee, where investigators returned Sunday, searching for any clues.
Authorities have issued an Amber alert and are calling Mayes “armed and extremely dangerous.”
While he was last seen in Mississippi, authorities say Mayes has ties to Arizona, Texas, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Florida.
His neighbors hope officials track him down soon.
“I don’t want him hurting any more kids or hurting anybody,” said one.
“This is a pretty quiet community; nothing serious has ever happened around here,” said another. “So, it’s a pretty rough situation.”
Authorities believe Mayes has altered his appearance, and may have cut and dyed the girls’ hair to help keep their identities hidden.
Mayes is charged in Tennessee with abducting all four of the Bains, but authorities are still trying to determine if Jo Ann went with him willingly.
There is a $50,000 reward for any information leading to the Bain family and the arrest of Mayes.
