Police are investigating the robbery of a school crossing guard who was on duty.

Jeff Hall was directing traffic and helping children to get across the road during his afternoon shift on Monday when he was pushed against a wall by a man demanding money, city police said.

Hall said a man approached him at 2:38 p.m. at Ninth and Liberty streets.

Hall said he told the man that he had no money and threatened to call police.

Police said that the released Hall and fled on Ninth Street, said Capt. Dean Schwartz.

The attempted robber was described as white, 6-foot-3, with blond hair, and wearing a red leather jacket and a black hat with the word ”Bronx” on it, police said. Hall was not injured.
