http://www.privateofficer.com/ The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office said that an internal theft investigation by a company has resulted in a major arrest for theft of diet pills. Investigators say that they have arrested an Aiken man concerning the theft of $500,000 worth of “Alli” weight loss capsules.
The pills according to a sheriff’s department spokesperson was taken from from Glaxo Smith Kline, a pharmaceutical manufacture in Aiken.
Authorities say 29-year-old Jeremy A. Jones is charged with 16 counts of grand larceny – more than $5,000. Jones turned himself in Thursday morning.
Investigators say that while employed as a temporary worker with the company from July, 2007, to December, 2007, Jones managed to remove 16 plastic bags, each weighing an estimated 45 pounds, from the company warehouse.
Investigators say Jones then repackaged the capsules in plastic bags and sold them in loose form to customers on the internet auction site eBay.
A customer in Oregon complained about the packaging which started the investigation that eventually aided authorities in identifying Jones as the seller.
Jones was booked into the county jail pending a bond release.
