Security officer stabbed subduing assault suspect www.privateofficer.com

CONCORD CA Mar 28 2009 — A man was arrested after he got into a fight with a fellow bar patron over a woman and stabbed him, and then stabbed a security guard who tried to subdue him, police said.
An argument broke out about 1:10 a.m. between a man and another patron of the Time Out sports bar in the 1800 block of Grant Street, said Lt. Brian Wiesendanger. The two men, arguing over a female bar patron, took their argument outside to the parking lot..
At some point during the argument, one patron, a 38-year-old Pittsburg man, punched the other in the face, Wiesendanger said. This prompted the punched man to pull out a knife and stab the man in the neck.
A security guard rushed out and tried to subdue the attacker, who stabbed him in the abdomen, Wiesendanger said. Other security guards were able to restrain the man, who was in handcuffs by the time officers arrived, he said.
The suspect, a 45-year-old Bay Point man, was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and booked into County Jail on $30,000 bail.
Both the Pittsburg man and security guard were taken to a local hospital where they were treated and expected to survive their injuries, Wiesendanger said.
