A jury returned a guilty verdict against a man on trial for shooting two security guards and killing one of them.
Christopher Beatty-Jones, 21 was convicted of murder and five other charges Friday afternoon.

Beatty-Jones said he acted in self defense on the witness stand. He said he was in a bad neighborhood at night and feared that the security guards would shoot him first.

Beatty-Jones was charged with murder, attempted murder and felonious assault. Prosecutors said Beatty-Jones shot two moonlight security guards at the Western Manor Apartments in Dayton.

James Locker, 51, died of his injuries.

Beatty-Jones apologized for the crime during sentencing. The judge ordered him to spend 28 years to life in prison.
